From The Sea

One of my hero artists, Alberto Giacometti, once said, “The object of art is not to reproduce reality, but to create a reality of the same intensity.”

I became captivated by seashells years ago and have never stopped painting them. Their symmetry, color, pattern and extraordinary sculptural forms continue to fascinate me. Sometimes their shapes stay with me long after I’ve put down the brush. Each one feels entirely individual — a reminder of the beauty, intricacy and uniqueness found in the natural world.
